Stanground
is a large community comprehensive school serving
south-east Peterborough and part of north-west Cambridgeshire
(particularly the villages of Farcet and Yaxley).
We
have over 1500 students aged 11 to 19, of whom
almost 300 are in the sixth form. We are a partner
in providing community education in south Peterborough,
with a programme of evening classes and other
community activities using our extensive facilities.
We are a Specialist
College for Sport. The extra funding helps us to
develop our sports facilities and to provide support
for other schools in the area, particularly our
local primary schools. We have an excellent sports
hall, an indoor swimming pool and a five-a-side
football centre with ten all-weather pitches. Being
a specialist college, of course, is not just about
sport. We continue significantly to develop teaching
and learning to support achievement in all areas.
We value academic study, vocational learning and
sporting achievement.
We are proud to be an "Investor in People",
a Partner School with Cambridge University Faculty
of Education, to have achieved National Healthy School
status and to have secured the Basic Skills Agency
Quality Mark, the Sports Mark and the Peterborough
Race Equality Award (three times).

GCSE
Results
For
the third year running, Stanground College
has broken all previous records at GCSE.
This year's results are the best in the
College's 42-year history! 58% of students
achieved five or more A*-C grades, 8%
up on last year's score.
Congratulations are due to the students
and staff for all the hard work and skill
they have shown in achieving these excellent
results, but we would also like to congratulate
the Year 11 parents who played their part
by supporting the College's work so well.
In
April, we were officially recognised as
a Healthy School. This is an excellent
achievement and I am indebted to Sue Baverstock
for her skilled work in coordinating the
programme, bringing together the College’s
evidence and for presenting it so effectively.
The Local Authority’s Healthy Schools
Coordinator had this to say in her letter:
“I was really encouraged
to hear about the wealth of excellent
practice being demonstrated at Stanground
College in support of PHSE and Healthy
Schools and am most impressed by the
way in which the working group has
continued to drive this incredibly
important agenda forward.”

The Italian Consular Agency office of
Peterborough is situated within Stanground
College.
The office is open Monday to Friday
from 9.30am to 11.30am.
The main purpose of this office is to
help the Italian community of Peterborough,
Cambridgeshire and Norfolk with the following:
Issue of Italian passports
The Registration of births, marriages, divorces and deaths to city
or town of origin in Italy
Legal matters e.g. (buying and selling of property or land) in
Italy
Registration of newly arrived Italians to Peterborough not just
from Italy but from around the world
Interpreting between Italian and English
