Peterborough Italian Organisation is a non-profit
organisation with the goal of providing a forum for
gathering and disseminating information and news by,
among, for and about persons of Italian heritage living
in Peterborough and to offer, promote, sponsor and
facilitate socialising and networking opportunities
for members of the Italian community in Peterborough.
The website is open to anyone in the community that
wants to contribute in any form. We encourage you to
send your articles, ideas, suggestion etc.
Peterborough Italian Organisation was founded in 2006
by cousins Pino Soccio and Stefano Restaino on the
back of Italy’s triumph in the World
Cup. After seeing the mass of young Italians joining
in the summer’s celebrations Pino
and Stefano decided that something should be done to
re-unite the younger members of the community. During
the mass emigration of Peterborough’s
founding Italian community in the 1950’s
a candle was lit, this candle was the symbol of unity,
growth and life that was to be passed through the generations.
Throughout the decades this candle has slowly been
burning to a point where the flame is nearing the end
of the candles wick. The vision is to take this flame
to pass on to a new candle.
PeterboroughItalians.org.uk is currently part of the
non-profit organisation and maintained by its committee
members Vito Fierro, Alfio Restaino, Pino Soccio, Stefano
Restaino and Ces Serluca. The website is also supported
thanks to the sponsorship and donations by some of
the members of our community.
