Business Studies

The Staff
There are eight members of the department who are well qualified to deliver the wide variety of courses offered by this curriculum area.

There are six dedicated rooms of which 4 are computer suites

Examination Success
The students in the curriculum area have consistently produced good exam results. In Business Studies this year 64% of the Business Studies GCSE students gained a grade A*-C, 89% of the GNVQ Business students gained a pass or above and there was a 100% pass rate in the BTEC Business First Diploma. In the Health and Social Care area 92% of the GNVQ students gained a pass or above, and 2 of the AS Health and Social care students gained a double grade A which puts them in the top 2% for this subject.

Curricular Activities

The Young Enterprise Programme
The curriculum area fully participates successfully in the Young Enterprise programme. There are four teams currently participating in the programme including one year 10 team. The programme is fully integrated into our Vocational Business courses as well as a volunteer team from the sixth form.

Visits
The curriculum area organises a variety of visits to bring reality to the courses. These visits include Cadbury World, Perkins Engines, Gaston’s restaurant, the Bank of England and Subs for Business and Economics students and Activity World for the Health and Social Care students.
